mona

Northern Ireland has been enjoying peace for close to 30 years. That said, it seems to me that no matter how much time has gone by since the 'troubles' ended, our violent past lurks behind us; like your shadow on a cloudy day, not quite visible, but still there, just waiting for the cloud to lift so as become visible and relevant once more.  'Mona' portrays my anxiety of living in this tense political climate.  Just like the Mona Lisa whose gaze follows you across the room wherever you go, so to does the barrel of the gun belonging to a supposed relic of our past, a balaclava clad gunman on one of Belfast's notorious murals.
